One of the things I love about my job is the wonderful families I get to meet.   And then I get to meet their friends. . .  LOVED photographing this sweet family - so full of life.  Big sister and brother were total giggle monsters (as you can see) and sweet little brand new sister at 8 days was ready for anything.   She was such a dreamy snoozer!

Everywhere I look there’s amazing color. . . although what interests me most are the little surprises.    The little moments of interesting patterns that I catch out of the corner of my eye, the amazing splash of color the teeny-tiniest little flower can have, that delicate almost shy beauty tucked away in the shade. . . these are the moments of beauty that I savor the most - I think because they feel like they’re all mine.   And now they’re yours too. . . Here are a few of my recent finds:

Wow. . . I’m still recovering from the exhilarating news that one of my images has been selected as one of the 150 winning images in Elliott Erwitt’s Fresh M.I.L.K competition!!!!  The competition was  looking for outstanding images that document authentic, spontaneous moments of intimacy, laughter, and kinship among friends, families, and lovers.     If you’re not familiar with Elliott Erwitt, he is a phenomenal photographer with a very unique eye for humor and other compelling moments - you can check out his work at:  www.elliotterwitt.com

And woohoo!!!   I am beyond excited - my image will be published in Fall 2009 in the book Fresh M.I.L.K.: Friends, Families, Lovers & Laughter. AND I’m now in running for the grand prize of $50,000!!!

The story behind the image:   we were on vacation with my parents in Jackson Hole.   Jack and my father were out checking out the birds, and Thomas went out to say goodnight.    Well, he got a little sidetracked.  This is what I saw when I looked out the window - so I grabbed my camera FAST!!!   Hope it makes you smile too!

This N that: Congratulations!!!!! That moment is just perfect! I love it, good luck! -Shellie

AnnemarieZ: this is a classic moment! love it!

I am, like I’m sure most of  you are, ready for spring!!   The changing of seasons is always an amazing event - greeting spring is particularly wonderful though after the long winter.  I of course love the amazing splash and profusion of color, but I also love the more subtle signs of springs.  I LOVE watching the little tiny oak leaves unfurl with their soft fuzzy leaves  - and if you look just a few days later, those leaves have lost some of that fuzz, some of that newness.  .  . so, in honor of spring, I’m posting a few images that struck me . . . images of that soft, quiet unfolding that just . . . happens. . . every single spring. . . before that incredible explosion of spring color!

happy spring!

Kathleen
