Snow snow snow!!   Sledding, snowball fighting, walking in snowy woods, snowangel making, and of course snowman building.   And then warming up by the fire with hot cocoa and popcorn. . . . snowy days.   Thomas busily built snow forts and ice houses for homeless little critters to find and get warm and then inspected the different animal prints left in the snow. . . ”a new mystery,” he would say when he found an unfamiliar track.   Tiny little bird tracks in fresh snow have always been a favorite of mine. . . Sadie Ellen kept saying “I looooove winter.”  Together we built a snowman that the kids christened “Cocoa the Snow Angel” (or is it “Koko the Snow Angel”. . .)  Thomas’ contribution was Snow Angel.  Sadie Ellen wanted Cocoa (Koko?) of course. . . Sadie Ellen names EVERYTHING Cocoa/Koko.  Stuffed animals, pretend characters etc.  Every single time, it’s Cocoa/Koko.  One time she actually named something “Really Cocoa/Koko”. . . lol.
It’s been ages since I’ve shared photos of my little loves.  So here are just a few of the fun.  Of course I’ve got to start with Cocoa the Snow Angel.   One snowangel full of character.  With eyes of blueberries (for the birds. . . except a day later the birds still haven’t eaten them. . .)
I hope you all enjoyed the snow in your own way.   Namaste~  Kathleen
p.s. Stay tuned as I’m announcing minisessions soon!

Got your attention?  Hope so - because if you’re at all interested in decorative painting you need to check out the work of Michelle and Davide Aguiar of CAN Decorative Painting and Design.  Michelle and Davide moved to Chapel Hill seven years ago from Toronta, Canada.  Their stuff is amaaaazing!!!  You can catch a glimpse here:  www.candecorativepaint.com Michelle and Davide hired me to take a photograph of them for their website and it’s been truly great getting to know them.

On another note,  I’ve been busily working on some changes to Kathleen Hunter Photography - so stay tuned!!!   And stay warm :o)  Kathleen

Michelle: Thanks Kathleen, we had such a great time! And we love the photo. Michelle and Davide

In-home sessions have such intimacy and soul to them.   So I was in heaven this week photographing little Miss A.  She shines with such a bright little light.   And my goodness. . . SWEET.  One of the other neat things about this shoot was all of their cats - four cats that were wondering in and out the whole time.  Loved that we were able to capture that part of their family too!

Hope you guys enjoy your peek!!!     Peace ~ Kathleen

I am incredibly humbled to be included in the recent  Family, Friendship, Lovers & Laughter publication.  This publication is the result of the Fresh M.I.L.K. competition, judged by renowned photographer Elliott Erwitt (www.elliotterwitt.com).  There were nearly 35,000 entries from all over the world.  150 winning photographs were chosen to be included in the book.  And one of my photographs was chosen.

The book was published in November and I SO wish it were available for purchase in the United States - some of these photographs are  REALLLLY amazing.  Every time I open the book I find some new interesting photograph that somehow I’ve missed.  But after looking around I can’t seem to find it for sale here. . . yet.   You can see a thumbnail (some of which are cropped) of the images included here:  http://www.freshmilkphotos.com/winnersgallery1.html And here’s a picture of the cover and my photograph. . .

Thanks for dropping by!   I will probably take a break from blogging for the next few weeks so that I can focus on my family.  And the holiday insanity of course. . . . I’m already looking forward to a glass of eggnog lol.   Namaste my friends~ Kathleen

So so so so so stinkin’ cute.   Meet lil Hannan.   So full of personality.  I fell in love instantly.   My favorite part of the session was when Mom and Dad whipped out the apple, one of Hannan’s favorite playthings.  Oh my.  She lit up when she first caught sight of that apple.  She rolled, she bounced, she threw, she inspected. . . endless JOY from that apple.   So I’ll start there. . .
